Tried Keto, it worked and it didn't
Well, I have been thinking of losing weight for a long time. So for the month of March I decided to try the keto diet. It worked in a few different ways.
- I lost 10 pounds.
- I was not hungry at all, in fact on several days, I had trouble making myself eat all the food that I needed to.
- I even found that my abdomen visibly shrank.
Overall, however, I am not a fan for a long term solution to my weight.
- I got bored with food. This is a problem as I do love to eat varied foods from many cultures.
- I had to spend a lot of time thinking about food, organizing food, which I do not like. This is in direct opposition to fasting which shortens the amount of time I spent thinking about food.
- It was quite expensive. Protein is the most expensive category of groceries and that makes up a large portion of the diet.
Basically, I began to dislike cooking and eating, perhaps this is the point of the diet. But for me, cooking is one of the activities that I enjoy, both for myself and for my family and friends. Ultimately, the keto diet took some joy away from my life in general and that I find unacceptable at this time in my life.
